Fixed-Rate Mortgages

Low rates and flexible options with up to 30-year terms available.

What is a fixed-rate mortgage?

A fixed-rate mortgage is exactly that. A mortgage with an interest rate that is fixed and stays the same throughout the term of your loan. It offers you consistency to help make it easier to set up your budget.

With a fixed-rate mortgage, the amount you pay toward the mortgage itself, the part that’s made up of your principal and interest, won’t change. Fixed-rate mortgages are a good choice if you think interest rates will rise and you want to keep the current market rate. In addition, if you see yourself staying in your home for a long time, are on a fixed income, and don’t expect to refinance, a fixed-rate mortgage may be the right option for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A fixed-rate mortgage has an interest rate that remains the same for the entire loan term. It’s a popular loan option because it provides stability and consistency. You won’t have to worry about the interest rate on your mortgage loan changing, so your principal and interest charges will remain the same. No matter what happens after you secure your loan, the rate at which you locked in your loan remains the same. Keep in mind, if your mortgage payment includes homeowners’ insurance or property taxes, then it might fluctuate due to changes in those costs.

Your mortgage loan’s interest rate is affected by a variety of things, including your credit score, down payment, and the amount of your mortgage loan, among other factors. We encourage you to use our mortgage loan calculator to see your options.
The difference between a fixed-rate and an adjustable-rate mortgage is that, for an adjustable-rate mortgage, the interest rate may go up or down. With a fixed-rate mortgage, the interest rate is set when you take out the loan and will not change over the loan term.
