NCUA Telephone Scam

The NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) recently issued an alert to consumers and Credit Unions warning about a new telephone fraud scam. Although this scam is not specifically targeted at Patelco members, please take a moment to understand the details of this scam.

This telephone fraud scam, also known as a "vishing" scheme, is using the agency's name in an attempt to obtain personal financial information.

What is Vishing?
Vishing uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to leave an automated message on your phone warning you that your account has had unusual activity or asking you to update your personal information. The message urges you to call a number claiming to be a Patelco phone number. You could get a similar message through email or text.
