Volunteering
It's Better to Give Than Receive
On October 9, over 300 Patelco Credit Union employees from its Northern California branches
and Deerfield, Illinois branch—which were closed in observance of Columbus Day—mobilized for a day of public service in San Francisco.
Volunteers gathered at the Argent Hotel in San Francisco for a kick-off celebration. Afterwards employees fanned out to various locations across the San Francisco Bay Area to take part in eight different community service projects which included: packing food at the San Francisco Food Bank, landscaping Coit Tower, cleaning the Exploratorium, preparing gift baskets for a fundraiser for Support for Families of Children with Disabilities, Ocean Beach cleanup, trail maintenance at Land's End, sorting food at the Alameda Food Bank, grounds upkeep at the Janet Pomeroy Center, and Buena Vista Park cleanup.
"It is wonderful to help our community," commented Patelco CFO Scott Waite. "Today's event was a great way for people to see how Patelco differentiates itself from other financial institutions and the difference Patelco can make in people's lives."
Andy Hunter, President and CEO of Patelco, added, "Patelco is committed to the philosophy of people helping people to improve its local community. By taking an active role and supporting programs that make a positive difference, Patelco is helping to enrich the lives of its members and neighbors."
